Sustainable Building Policy Inventory

Beginning in 2020, Center for Energy and Environment and Hennepin County embarked on a process to develop best practice guidelines for city sustainable building policies. To do so, we examined and reviewed existing city policies and held conversations with city staff. These findings resulted in the Minnesota Municipal Sustainable Building Policies Guide.

What follows on the "City Policies" tab of this workbook is a summary of the policies investigated for the guide. The summary is created using available information from city policy documents as of February 2022. The summary is not meant to be exhaustive, but provide comparison of policies across the cities. More detail for each city policy can be found in the associated links.
