The Midwest Building Codes & Policy Summit brings together stakeholders from across the Midwest to discuss the advancement of energy codes and building energy policies in the region. CEE's Julia Wells, Angela Peterson, Eric Flower, and Anusha Burte will all attend the conference.

Julia Wells will speak on the panel "Laying the Foundation: Supporting Communities with Energy Code Compliance Programs," from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The session will explore how energy code support programs are becoming more innovative, research-backed, and reliable. These initiatives have found success in a variety of applications, whether a community-led collaborative, data-informed trainings, or a proactive circuit rider. Attendees will learn how these various approaches have been leveraged to improve energy code compliance and build relationships with communities.

Panel Information: CalMTA: Market Transformation: Innovation and Leverage to Achieve California’s Decarbonization Goals (moderated by Rick Dunn, Resource Innovations (CalMTA) - Join our speakers as they explore Market Transformation activities in three regions that will impact California’s decarbonization efforts, starting with an overview of CalMTA’s recent application to CPUC for three initiatives: Commercial Window Retrofits, Commercial Rooftop Units, and Residential Heat Pump Water Heaters. Then the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance will describe its Whole Building efficiency program and the use of Luminaire Level Lighting Controls as HVAC occupancy sensors, followed by Minnesota’s Efficient Technology Accelerator, who will share its work on Heat Pump RTUs and Residential High Performance Windows.

The presentation highlights two MT initiatives: heat pump rooftop units (RTUs), including in-field performance research and energy and emissions savings data, and residential high-performance windows, including a manufacturer incentive to produce more affordable, builder-grade triple-pane windows and a newly launched sales incentive program.
